Product Introduction

The 4-Channel 12G-SDI Optical Fiber Transmission System is engineered specifically for Blackmagic Design cinema and broadcast cameras, including the URSA Mini, URSA Mini Pro (G1/G2), and URSA Broadcast series. Designed to overcome the strict distance limitations of copper coaxial cables in high-bandwidth 4K/UHD workflows, this system enables uncompressed, ultra-low-latency 12G-SDI video transmission over long distances using standard LC single-mode optical fiber.

The solution consists of:

• 4 × Camera-Back Optical Fiber Adapters: Mount directly to the rear of the camera chassis or battery plate assembly. Each unit provides dedicated 12G-SDI Program/Return inputs, dual outputs, a local loop-through, and standard optical LC transceiver slots.
• 1 × 1RU Rackmount Base Station Receiver: Installed in the central control room, master control, or OB truck. It consolidates four completely independent transmission channels into a compact standard 19-inch chassis with AC mains power.

Per-Channel Interface Overview

Each of the 4 channels (both on the Camera Adapter and the Rackmount Base Station) includes:

• 2 × LC Optical SFP Ports: Transmit and receive optical signals over fiber lines.
• 1 × 12G-SDI IN (BNC): Primary video signal input.
• 1 × 12G-SDI LOOP OUT (BNC): Direct local passive/reclocked loop-through of the input signal.
• 2 × 12G-SDI OUT (OUT 1 & OUT 2 BNC): Dual replicated SDI outputs for feeding multiple destinations (e.g., video switcher, multiviewer, recorder, monitor).
• DC Power In: Locking DC connector on camera back adapters (5–15V DC); internal AC (90~220V) power supply on the 1RU Base Station.
