SMPTE 311M/304M Hybrid Fiber Optic Broadcast Cable assembly utilizing industry-standard LEMO-style 3K.93C connectors
the interconnection and breakout scheme of a standard SMPTE 311M/304M Hybrid Fiber Optic Broadcast Cable assembly utilizing industry-standard LEMO-style 3K.93C connectors.
1. Top Connection Assembly: FXW to PUW
FXW (Panel-Mount Plug / Male): The silver metal chassis component serves as the panel-mount connector. On its interior (left side), it breaks out the composite elements into separate lines:
Optical: Two single-mode fibers terminated with blue LC duplex connectors (wrapped in a yellow jacket).
Electrical: Four individual copper wires (for control and auxiliary power lines).
PUW (Cable Socket / Female): The black, elongated cable-end connector attached to one end of the main hybrid cable. It securely plugs into the FXW panel connector via a push-pull self-latching mechanism.
2. Bottom Connection Assembly: EDW to FUW
EDW (Panel-Mount Socket / Female): The silver metal chassis component acting as the receiving panel receptacle. Similar to the FXW side, its backside breaks out into:
Optical: Two blue LC optical connectors.
Electrical: Four copper electrical signal and power wires.
FUW (Cable Plug / Male): The black cable-end plug attached to the opposite end of the main hybrid cable bundle. It mates directly into the EDW panel socket.
3. Main Cable Bundle & Protection
The Coiled Cable: The thick black cable coiled on the right is a SMPTE 311M hybrid camera cable. It internally integrates two single-mode fiber optic strands, two power conductors, two control conductors, and a central strength member to seamlessly transmit high-definition audio, video, data, and power over a single line.
Dust Caps: Several black rubber protective dust caps on stainless steel tethers are included near each connection point to shield the delicate internal fiber ferrules and electrical pins from dust, water, and debris when unmated.
